Kentucky Car Wrecks

Over the last decade, Lexington has seen varying numbers in traffic-related fatalities. In 2020, 26 deadly crashes led to 27 deaths. The following year, 2021, saw a rise with 36 fatal collisions and 42 lives lost. In 2022, the numbers dipped slightly, with 35 fatal wrecks resulting in 38 deaths. However, 2023 marked a troubling spike—52 deadly accidents occurred, claiming 52 lives. Although early 2024 data hinted at a possible decline, driver negligence continues to be a leading factor in these devastating incidents.

Throughout Kentucky, distracted driving remains the top cause of traffic collisions. Many drivers engage in risky behaviors like texting, talking on the phone, or taking their attention off the road—actions that often lead to severe or even fatal crashes. Nationally, distracted driving contributes to over 400,000 car accidents every year, making it one of the most pressing roadway safety concerns in the country.

If you or a loved one has suffered injuries due to a negligent driver, the aftermath can feel overwhelming—physically, emotionally, and financially.
